Project Access of Durham County Community Health Worker/ Benefits Specialist

Project Access of Durham County (PADC), a non-profit organization, provides access to donated specialty medical care and services for uninsured residents of Durham County. The PADC main office is located at Duke Regional Hospital with satellite office at Lincoln Community Health Center.

This position will manage the satellite office and coordinate referrals, screen patients, schedule enrollment interviews, respond to incoming calls, schedule medical appointments, and conduct enrollment interviews in a busy office. Community Health Worker will foster positive relationships with patients and providers. Position is full time (8:30 am-5 pm, Mon-Fri) with health and dental insurance and paid time off. Requires Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience). Strong customer service orientation and ability to work well with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences and across different settings. Experience in health care services or education desirable, as well as knowledge of resources in Durham County. Strong initiative and flexibility in identifying and solving problems. Ability to manage work independently and to work cooperatively. Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability required. Proficiency in MS Office, as well as ability to quickly learn new software.
