SAF/NCSU Migrant Scholarship
Each academic year, SAF awards one need-based scholarship to an undergraduate student from a farmworker family to attend NC State University. The scholarship is open to any student whose immediate family is currently engaged in farm or food processing labor or have done farm work in North Carolina in the past. Proof of residency is NOT required to be eligible for this scholarship. SAF and the Office of Financial Aid at NCSU will determine the recipient.
The award will be between $1,000 - $1,500 annually and may be renewed if Financial Aid determines the student's need. The award can be renewed for no longer than four academic years.
The scholarship recipient will be requested to participate in SAF's Into the Fields Summer Internship and Leadership Development Program, where he or she will work alongside 29 other college students in organizations supporting farmworkers in the Carolinas. Upon completion of the Into the Fields Program (ITF), students receive a $1,500 scholarship. For more information about the internship program go to the ITF page.
