According to a 2005 survey, 53% of farmworkers are undocumented (without legal authorization), 25% are United States citizens, and 21% are legal permanent residents.
SAF's 20th Anniversary Publication- now available as a pdf
Our 20th anniversary booklet is now available as a pdf!
In honor of our 20th Anniversary we put together a beautiful publication filled with quotes from our 20 alumni awardees, documentary images, a list of our accomplishments, a history of SAF's 20 years, and the mural our youth created on the cover. Thanks so much to SAF alumni Chris Sims for designing the publication and Alejandra Okie Hollister for translating and copyediting, and to Paul Ortiz and the students from the University of Florida’s Samuel Proctor Oral History Program who interviewed our alumni awardees last spring. "We all went through the same experiences and we were all committed to continue to work with farmworkers the rest of our lives, and that is part of what SAF's underlying motto is. It's making sure that everybody's voices are heard, and the voice of the people underrepresented, that they're able to receive the same justice as everybody else."
