Labor laws allow children as young as twelve years old to work in agriculture with their parent's consent. However, children of all ages can be found working in the fields.
Student Organizing School
As of the fall of 2016, the Student Organizing School will be integrated into the Solidaridad internship program.
As part of our strategic planning process, we have been evaluating and streamlining our programs to see a greater impact on students and farmworkers. Through this process, we saw that interns who were able to devote more time and have more contact with SAF staff were able to accomplish their organizing tasks with greater ease. By integrating these programs, we hope to create a structure that better supports students to help us carry out our mission and their leadership development.
There will be 2 Solidaridad positions open for students to do advocacy and organizing work at the SAF office during the academic year. Read more about these positions and the Solidaridad program here.
