Apply for Solidaridad!

Spend the academic year interning at Student Action with Farmworkers' office learning about the farmworker justice movement and gaining nonprofit leadership skills. Through mentorship and training, 5-10 Solidaridad interns gain an understanding of farmworker issues and experience in social justice and nonprofit work, while increasing SAF’s capacity to fulfill our mission. Students intern approximately 10 hours a week at the SAF office in Durham, NC. Students may conduct presentations, mentor farmworker youth, plan events, create communication tools, participate in actions, rallies, and coalition meetings and write blog posts. Students will also be introduced to seasoned advocates so that they have the opportunity to build their professional network.

Early application deadline May 15 and final application deadline August 28.

"SAF has been a huge part of my college experience. For me, it was really important to balance out my academic experiences with the understanding that different types of learning occur outside a classroom setting. I didn't want to go to school in North Carolina for 4 years and not understand what was happening around me. I now feel deeply committed to the farmworker movement. We should all care about this movement, because we all eat food, and we can't forget about the human aspect of food when it comes to creating a just agricultural system."
– Lina Palancares, SAF intern 2017-2018
