BorderLinks Development Director

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), and in partnership with the ED and the Board of Directors,the Development Director (Director) will effectively implement existing funding plans to ensure organizational health, and will spearhead development efforts as BorderLinks continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to build on current development procedures, and to expand and execute a fundraising strategy to broaden organizational capacity according to strategic plan goals. 

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills to solicit donors, help in branding the organization, and engage the public on Borderlinks mission and value to the community locally and nationally
  • High level communication skills to effectively work with staff members, leadership within the organization and volunteers for the organization in a management capacity.
  • Consistent attention to detail and an ability to execute tasks, short-term plans and long-term goals
  • BA (required), MA (a plus), especially in business, finance or program administration
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in fundraising techniques, including community outreach, relationship building with donors, staff, volunteers, and past program beneficiaries, and grant writing and major gift fundraising
  • Experience in fund development, preferably in the nonprofit field
  • Knowledge of donor databases and other fundraising technology to use in daily job duties. Knowledge of and experience with Little Green Light a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual development/fundraising plan for BorderLinks, to include
  • Growing a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors
  • Securing financial support from foundations and allied institutions
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with all major donors
  • Creating and executing a strategy for a large and sustained base of individual donors
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with past program beneficiaries
  • Overseeing creation and promotion of organizational publications
  • Securing speaking opportunities to share information about the organization with the community
  • Planning and executing fundraising activities for the organization
  • Plan and implement a planned giving program
  • Oversee fundraising database, including data entry and gift processing
  • Overseeing organization of fundraising research, events and activities
  • Developing and tracking proposals and reports for all foundation, institutional and individual fundraising
  • Produce materials geared towards fundraising and train volunteers in fundraising efforts
  • Work closely with staff, volunteers and Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Perform other related duties as requested
