Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF)
Operations Manager – Part Time Position

MISSION: Founded in 1992, SAF is a non-profit organization that brings students and farmworkers together to learn about each other's lives, share resources and skills, improve conditions for farmworkers, and build diverse coalitions working for social change. www.saf-unite.org

STAFF SIZE: 7 full-time, 1 part-time and 40-50 youth, interns & fellows

ANNUAL BUDGET: $852,891

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Manage donor database (NEON), including maintaining individual donor and foundation records, merging duplicates, managing SAF store, troubleshooting, managing upgrades & pulling reports as needed
  • Write & send thank you notes to donors
  • Manage staff benefits & insurances (e.g., health, dental, retirement, car, board of directors, general liability)
  • Assist with onboarding & exiting staff
  • Assist with preparation of board meetings
  • Purchase and manage supplies, postage, computers, applications, tools & other equipment
  • Manage SAF vehicle, office clean up, administrative files, and shipping materials
  • Update operating procedures & create administrative processes and systems as needed
  • Assist with program work & outreach to farmworkers as time permits


SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to farmworker justice
  • Experience with nonprofit benefits and insurances
  • Knowledge of office procedures and experience creating administrative systems & processes
  • Knowledge of MS Office Excel, including functions, and Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of data management systems (experience with NEON a plus)
  • Experience troubleshooting technology glitches
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational and archival skills
  • Able to adapt to changes at work/be flexible and cooperate with others
  • Computer skills on both Macintosh and Microsoft
  • Associate’s Degree in relevant field OR 2 years administrative experience, preferably with a nonprofit
  • Able to make at least a 2-3 year commitment
  • SAF alumni (preferred)
  • From farmworker family (preferred)
  • Bicultural and bilingual in Spanish & English (preferred)


HOURS OF WORK: 16-20 hours/week to be determined

SALARY & BENEFITS: $17.79-25.32/hour (depending on experience) for part-time work; prorated health & dental insurance, vacation, holidays, personal/sick and quarantine leave; annual seniority raise; union contract

LOCATION: SAF office in Durham, NC (virtual work option during pandemic)
