UNC Family Medicine Summer Academy

Addressing primary care needs in North Carolina by inspiring, empowering and enriching pre-health students.

The UNC FMSA accepts graduating high school students and first-year college students between the ages of 18-20 from rural areas of North Carolina who are interested in a career in medicine and a passion for rural service.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UNC FMSA will not offer our immersive, hands-on experience in Chapel Hill.  We will be offering virtual experiences. for example, there will be pre-participation modules about what it means to be a family medicine doctor as well as lectures on how to get into medical school. in addition, there will be a history and physical review with a simulated patient case.

At the conclusion of the program, scholars receive a mentor to provide continuing guidance and support.
