Program Coordinator, SC Department of Education

Job Responsibilities

The person in this position will assist with coordinating the statewide McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth program (MV), provide ongoing technical assistance (TA) and professional development (PD) to district and school personnel to support planning processes and the implementation of MV, including guidance in federal education law, regulations, and non-regulatory guidance. Assist with the statewide comprehensive needs assessment to determine common barriers and needs of homeless students to guide continuous improvement of the MV program. Assist with monitoring Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on a three (3) year cycle for MV compliance. Coordinate and collaborate with cross-divisional teams, state and community agencies, community partners, and councils to enhance the goals and objectives of the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), Office of Federal and State Accountability (OFSA), and Diversity, Inclusion, and Access (DIA). Assist with the administration of MV grant funds. This position is located in the Office of Federal and State Accountability.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in social work, sociology, education, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in program coordination, social work, grant management, or a related field.  District level McKinney-Vento program coordination or State agency experience. Previous experience working with at-risk families, children, and youth.  Previous experience working within court systems, especially regarding children and youth. Previous experience working with social service agencies, such as Department of Social Services, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Continuum of Cares, and local community agencies.
