SAF Says It Loud and Clear: Nobody is Illegal

November 20, 2025 By

For over three decades, Student Action with Farmworkers has been holding space for farmworkers, students, and allies to come together in the fight for farmworker justice.

We know remaining hopeful right now is not easy. We have heard from you, our supporters, and our community about the heaviness, fear, rage, and impotence of seeing the violent images of families being torn apart and communities reeling from the loss.

In an effort to support our community we want to take this time to ground ourselves in our values & beliefs and we invite you to do the same.

The immigrant and Latine community has a right to exist and be a part of this country.

We know no amount of data will move people who refuse to see immigrants as human or deserving of due process. We know some will still justify the cruelty of hunting down people like animals. But we also know the majority of Americans support immigrants’ rights — we are not the minority.

At SAF we believe people will do the right thing if given the chance and this includes the immigrant community. Right now, there are more people standing up against injustice and are volunteering their time and resources to support immigrants and their families.

For three decades, SAF has worked collaboratively with partners to create long-lasting systems change.

Now more than ever, we have seen the importance of having people with lived experience & a strong anti-racist analysis in positions of power.

We stand on the power of community.

We do not look at our neighbors and each other with suspicion or envy. Instead, we look after each other and share knowledge and resources freely. We do not operate from a perspective of scarcity.

We are inspired by the boldness and faith in humanity immigrants wager when they venture to come to this country.

Let’s use the energy of the immigrant spirit to envision a country where cruelty and racism is not the norm.

For over three decades, SAF has cultivated leaders from farmworker and working-class families.

SAF urges you to stand in the power of knowing you are the embodiment of your ancestors’ dreams.

We dream and demand big change.

If we have learned anything from the lessons of these past few years, it is that we should not limit our dreams to what currently exists. This is why SAF advocates for blanket immigration amnesty as a basic form of justice to offset the current abuses & human rights violations being endured.

We are a community of survivors.

SAF asserts there is no way to untraumatize families and communities after experiencing being torn apart in such an unnecessarily violent and barbaric manner. We cannot undo what has been lived, but as a society we can heal from the fissures created by current immigration enforcement tactics and ...

For over three decades, SAF has seen the number of advocacy groups and organizations, especially from the Latine community, grow & prosper.

We did it together & together we will resist & rebuild.
