Blueprint NC Project Consultant

Project Overview
Blueprint NC is seeking a qualified consultant to develop and facilitate a process to connect labor and environmental organizations that center Eastern NC in a shared space to:
1. Explore opportunities for collaboration and the potential for shared strategies in an environmental justice campaign
2. Grow a powerful, multi-issue coalition and base that can win real reforms and advance justice


Project Goals & Key Activities:
1. Create a convening space that encourages collaboration, build relationships, and result in candid discussions of shared strategies
2. Identify priority issue areas among the cohort and resource needs to engage in this
collective work
3. Assist partners in connecting work they're already doing to environmental justice and climate organizing
4. Create strategies to connect organizations in rural NC with statewide organizations that have a long history of environmental justice work5. Identify Environmental justice education gaps; facilitate learning opportunities to deepen context around intersection of local issues and environmental justice


Potential Barriers to Success:
1. Various capacity levels of participating organizations - including availability to meet
during standard work hours
2. Differences in classification and definition of ‘environmental’ work and issues
3. Conflicting approaches and strategies to the work
4. Potential conflict of interest surrounding possible campaign focus
5. Varying geographical, topographical, and industrial areas in the region that present
environmental conditions unique to the area


Evaluation Metrics & Criteria
:
1. Organizational attendance to scheduled meetings
2. High levels of participation in shared meetings and discussions
3. Production of a final product identifying shared areas for collaboration and next steps
4. Trainings or workshops conducted

****The Project Consultant will enter into a contract agreement with Blueprint NC and serve as an independent contractor. The contract will not be an employment contract, and benefits will not be provided. Blueprint NC will however cover all project related costs which will be reflected in the contract agreement
