Democracy Summer internship

Looking for a way to make social change and get paid for your time? Apply to be part of the 2021 Democracy Summer internship class!

At Democracy North Carolina, we believe that our fight is ongoing until every person has a voice. This summer, you could be a part of getting us closer to that reality.

Democracy Summer is a life-changing, hands-on internship experience for college students from across the state.

All interns earn a (taxable) $3,700 stipend for their time. and receiving training that will help you start a career in social and political change. Now in its 22nd year, Democracy Summer is ideal for college students interested in working in social and economic justice, community-based advocacy, research, politics, law, nonprofits, or public service.

This year's cohort of interns will work remotely for 9 weeks. Throughout that time, interns will engage in a plethora of organizing experiences, which include: 

  • Empowering local volunteers
  • Advocating for local and national policies that improve democracy
  • Gaining familiarity with North Carolina's power structure

All interns earn a (taxable) $3,700 stipend while building relationships and receiving training that will help you start a career in social and political change. Now in its 22nd year, Democracy Summer is ideal for college students interested in working in social and economic justice, community-based advocacy, research, politics, law, nonprofits, or public service.
