General Description
The purpose of this position is to drive County and community-wide efforts around food access and food policy initiatives and practices in Guilford County. This position is funded through ARPA allocation through 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform administrative work leading and coordinating the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive county-wide initiative to address food insecurity and access for the purpose of building a robust and inclusive food economy for residents to find affordable and healthy food.
- Develops and implement detailed projects plans, timelines, budgets, scope of work and objectives.
- Develops projects, tools, incentives, and instructional opportunities that facilitate implementation of desired outcomes.
- Provide strategic planning and administration of integrated food security efforts in Guilford County administered by Cooperative Extension.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with key internal and external partners, networks, coalitions, and organizations critical to the achievement of food policy goals.
- Track and document activities and outcomes for evaluation and reporting to stakeholders.
- Design food security and food system development strategies to expand funding opportunities for food security initiatives and projects.
- Advise and brief stakeholders and management regarding strategic direction and policy recommendations.
- Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities to promote and implement new and ongoing food security initiatives, including leading collaborative fund development with County and community partners.
- Manage and track the shared results of actions towards priority outcomes established by Guilford County.
- Prepares and presents project results at public meetings and to a variety of audiences including elected/appointed officials.

- Knowledge and background regarding food access issues and policy development.
- Strong organizational leadership and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive, productive, and effective relationships and partnerships.
- Ability to expand funding opportunities for food security initiatives and projects.
- Ability to work with people from local government, nonprofits, local businesses, and community members.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to bring diverse viewpoints together to work towards a common goal.
- Ability to develop and present materials to diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of food security efforts in Guilford County is preferred
