To learn more, please visit: https://nclatinxcollaborative.org/About the Project and Our Evolution:The NCCSLC is currently made up of contributing foundations, Latinx-led organizations and community-based groups representing all three regions of our state as well as both urban and rural contexts. Starting in July of 2023, the work is led by both a Unifying Council (made up of representatives from 9 Latinx-led organizations and three foundation representatives, all women of color). There is also a Funder Learning and Organizing Space (FLOS) that consists of 5 of the contributing foundations which also provides oversight for the finances and staffing of the collaborative. These two bodies, with the support of a consultant/project manager have helped develop and implement the NCCSLC’s priorities.
For the last 5 years, the NCCSLC’s work has been managed by an independent consultant/project manager, Zulayka Santiago. Working with a project manager/consultant that is both bilingual/bicultural and who has been a long-time advocate for immigrant justice in our state has been a tremendous asset in this work. This has also been instrumental in strengthening relationships with community partners.
The NCCSLC made a significant transition in the summer of 2023, transitioning to a new fiscal sponsor. There was also a shift in leadership structure, away from a Steering Committee consisting only of funders to the Unifying Council now serving as the formal leadership body. This position will serve as an expansion of staffing support to help the work evolve to the next level.
