Student U Hiring for Summer Positions

April 6, 2021 By

Student U is hiring for Summer 2021!

Student U is a community organization that uses the power of education to build a just and equitable Durham.

We empower and equip first-generation college students in Durham Public Schools, their families, and educators to become the leaders that will transform our city. Together, we’re creating a Durham where all students succeed.

As a result of structural racism, poverty and other systemic injustices, we acknowledge that first generation college-bound students face significant personal and institutional obstacles to educational success. We want to change the odds for children in our community.

We cannot do this work alone! We want you to be a part of our community and partner with to build a Durham where all students succeed.

Teaching in Summer Academy at Student U consists of:

  • Teaching small classes of students in grades 6-10, centered on core content areas (Math, English, Science, Global Connect/Social Studies)
  • Building meaningful relationships with students and other teachers
  • Creating lessons with the support of experienced mentor teachers
  • Learning from the brilliance of your students and fellow teachers
  • Growing as a leader and a teacher

We have openings for middle school and high school jobs, as well as a few non-teaching positions available this summer. To apply or learn more, please visit: studentudurham.org/apply/

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
