- A meaningful experience from last week was being able to volunteer at the Covid vaccine clinic in Vass to vaccinate a total of 265 farmworkers which is twice as much as last week.
- I learned about DACA renewal and helped to fill out the form for a client.
- Last week I went to a camp with migrant workers to conduct health assessments and to register 20 new farmworkers.
- I created immigrant rights content for social media for Immigrant Heritage Month.
- We visited 8 camps to help with tax information and to settle complaints, and talked with a grower to handle a problem with a supervisor.
- My intern partner and I created dozens of toiletry bags and PPE boxes for farmworkers.
- I assisted in the set-up and facilitation of a parenting workshop with 8-10 families.
- We delivered medicine to the camps and served as interpreters for the clinic.
- I got to form a collaborative group working on COVID vaccine infographics for farmworkers. This will help with efforts to vaccinate farmworkers who have either received outside non-FDA approved vaccines or have not received any doses.
- I taught two ESL by myself and signed up 7 out-of-school youth with the Migrant Education Program.
- In the first week, we were able to fill out multiple health assessments and hold two outreach events to vaccinate farmworkers and sign them up for clinic services. The first camp was all male, which was what I’m used to from my internship last year. The second event was at a nursery and this was my first time seeing female farmworkers, some of them years younger than I am.
