Eligibility

In order to participate in the Levante Leadership Institute, you must be in high school and come from a farmworking family or work in food processing or food service and must currently live in Johnston County or a surrounding county in eastern NC (including Durham and Wake counties).

Interested participants must submit a written application and interview for the program. Space is limited to 7 participants.

Definition of farmworker youth/family: A youth who has a member of their family currently working in or who recently worked in agricultural planting, cultivating, harvesting, food processing or preparing crops for market or storage.

  • Participate in the entire program from September – April
  • Attend the orientation, mid retreat, and final retreat
  • Attend monthly trainings and special events related to Levante/SAF
  • Write guided writings/blogs
