Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s Immigrant Experiences Research Study is seeking applicants to work as Field Interviewer. In this study, we are seeking to understand Mexican immigrants’ experiences that may influence short‐ and long‐term behavioral, psychological, and physical health.
Field Interviewers will:
- Help with identifying/recruiting 1st‐ or 2nd‐generation Mexican/Latino adults between the ages of 18 and 35 in their community and surrounding areas within the Piedmont Triad.
- Meet participants at their preferred location to administer a questionnaire and collect biomedical measures.
- Be in constant communication with and meet with study coordinator as needed.
Field Interviewers will receive comprehensive training on all data collection activities and will have full support from the Project Manager. The Field Interviewer will help recruit and collect data from around 125 1st or 2nd generation Mexican/Latino immigrants over 2 ‐ 2.5 years.
An ideal candidate is a natural leader in their community who enjoys talking to people, is comfortable in a variety of social settings, is self‐motivated and able to plan his/her own schedule, including nights and weekends to contact participants to set up appointments to conduct interview and measurements.
Candidates should:
- Be bilingual in Spanish and English. English only speakers will be considered
- Be very familiar/well‐connected within local Hispanic/Latino communities
- Have a positive attitude and be comfortable visiting families in their homes or community
- settings
- Have a reliable vehicle
- Have strong communication skills and be able to interact with all age groups
- Have strong organizational skills, be able to follow protocol and maintain confidentiality
Interviewers will receive $150 per participant and $30 per participant recruited. Field interviewers will be reimbursed for travel using their own vehicle based on a standard mileage rate. Training time will also be compensated.
