Holaaa! My name is Liz Sarabia and I am a first generation student at North Carolina State University! I am currently double majoring in Criminology & Political Science with a concentration in Law & Justice; plus I have a minor in Forensic Science! I am from a small town called Henderson which is in the northern part of North Carolina, however my roots are from Guerrero and San Luis Potosí, México. The reason I decided to apply to be a SOL intern was because growing up my mom worked in tobacco fields and I would see how she struggled working a job that offer little pay, however had some of the most poor working conditions. I have always been passionate about bringing change and achieving justice for farm working families. Now that I have the opportunity to bring about change, I am excited to be working with SAF and the rest of the SAFistas :)! During the weekend orientation at Camp Rockfish, it was really exciting to get to learn about and meet the rest of the SOL interns, the SAF staff, and the Levante students. It was definitely impactful getting to learn about everyone's perspective and be able to give my own perspective on all the topics that were discussed, regarding farm worker justice. I am super excited to see how the rest of the SOL internship goes and to be able to get to closely work with everyone to bring change to farm workers and their families!
